My Weekend Shenanigans & Winner Winner

Okay...so the title is a little deceiving, cause we didn't really get into anything questionable or mischevious, but I like the word, so I went with it.

Friday
Well, it didn't start out as usual....
That little sweetheart started with the thick, green mucus & low-grade fevers on Thursday & it wasn't getting any better by Friday, so I took her to the doctor's office. She has another ear infection (Praise the Lord it's nothing more serious, but still makes me sad). She either came into contact with something new OR the last junk she had was penicillin resistent, went dormant while she was on it, & came back with a vengeance this time. So we've started a different antibiotic.

I worked some of the day.

Then we went out for a dinner where I didn't have to negotiate or beg anyone to focus on eating. My MIL kept the girls, so....
....the hubs & I went.....

...to The Melting Pot. It's one of my FAV nice places to go. We don't go but every once in a while (I think it's been 2 years or so since we went last).

Our Spread

I got the Surf N Turf

I like condiments!

We got the Mojo Cooking style.

A little timer action to make sure we didn't under- or over-cook our stuff.

After I was stuffed, it was time for dessert!
The Flaming Turtle

All the dippers

I love me some chocolate-covered strawberries!!!!!

We were going to go see a movie too, but there was no way I could stay awake through a movie that started at 9:45 {yes, I realize I'm getting old}.

Saturday
A lot of relaxing happened since Kayla was not feeling well. We are firm believers of 24 hours fever-free before we expose ourselves to other people...we don't want to share our illnesses (sharing is not caring in this case) & our little immune systems are down & we don't want to get anything else.
We watched movies, some sports, & enjoyed some popcorn (don't worry, Bad Boys II was after the girls went to bed). Apparently I watched a little golf too, but that was through the back on my eyelids.

And the girls felt up to doing a little playing.
Gotta get our phone calls in!

If you can't fit in the car, why not ride on the car.

My lil thumb-sucking Jedi "so fresh and so clean"

Sunday
Another day of low-grade fever = another day of relaxing....well, Mommy got in a little workout, some straightening of the kitchen, & some laundry done too! Finally over the flu soreness (Praise the Lord!).

I had a Pinterest inspired breakfast (Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Toast) with my coffee this morning.

They have their moments where they argue, but I LOVE these moments when they want to be right beside each other!!!!

It looks like Barbie has moved her house accessories into our living room.

And of course what is a lazy day without some DS playing.

Here's the overview of what we watched

While the big kids (aka adults) watched the TN Lady Vols, the little kids...

...got to watch a movie in the big bed; & play DS of course!

And since I do watch a lot of Food Network, I'm not going to say "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner"! I have a winner on my 25 Follower Giveaway for this:

I used a fun new app I found called Random # to get the winner:

Which was:

Valerie, email me at asunshinyday99@gmail.com so I can get that giftcard to you.

Friday Does Not Equal Funday Today

Guess what, y'all?!?!?!

Yep, that pretty much sums it up!

And I know you guys are just as sick of reading about our illnesses as I am about writing about them. But oh well, such is a blogger's life, you blog about what's going on. I think I would have some CRAZY cabin fever (if you know me, you know we don't sit at home much), but the girls & I were able to get out of the house today....more on that in a bit.

Before going to bed last night we got some snow! The flakes were so pretty & being the picture whore taker that I am, I wanted to get some on film. Now, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my camera!

It's an Olympus Tough TG-820. The thing is Shockproof AND Waterproof!!!! Those are some AWESOME features to me cause I'm clumsy & have 2 preschoolers (aka: we drop stuff a lot) & we are around water a lot.

However, I cannot figure out the setting when it comes to take pictures at night. I tried all kinds of settings to take pictures of those beautiful flakes & this is what I got:

Anyhow...I'll get it figured out one day. Never the less, we had a dusting of snow when we got up. This brought smiles to everyone's faces!

Since we were advised: if you have fever more than 5 days while on Tamiflu, come back to the PCP office; we loaded up & went.

Kayla still had a low-grade fever & was complaining of her throat hurting. Jamie had a low-grade fever, was complaining of her ears & throat hurting, & had cough something TERRIBLE last night. I think I got 4 hours of sleep last night & they were not consecutive.

So I have a question for ya:
Is walking into the doctor's office like the miracle drug for your children? I swear, these 2 got some crazy energy the minute we walked in the door saying nothing hurt & they were all better. This is them playing under the exam bed in the room we were in. It was their house.

So even though this little sweet said only her throat was a little sore...
...she's got a secondary bacterial ear infection & got a antibiotic.

And this little cute...
...also has a secondary bacterial ear infection along with some nasty crud in her chest. She got prescribed & antibiotic & had to do a breathing treatment to help break up that junk.

Although she kept telling me: Momma I don't wike {like} it; she was a total rock star & sat through the whole thing...Clifford by her side. She also got prescribed an albuterol inhaler along with a mask (cause when you're not 3 yet, you don't really do the inhaler thing too well without it having a mask to assist).

While we were waiting on our prescriptions to be filled, we went to Sonic for lunch & had a little treat.

Jamie had a Vanilla Shake, I had a Caramel Snickers Blast, & Kayla had a Chocolate Shake. I was only able to eat 1/2 my lunch cause this stinkin sickness has completely zapped my appetite & I was full, so I REALLY should not have ordered mine, but the thought of that cold going down my throat sounded heavenly. I was only able to eat 1/2 of it.

We got home in time for some quiet time & of course my cuddle buddy had to take her spot!

She's either saying "Mommie I still don't feel good" or "Mommie I'm not better yet". Poor thing.

Someone finally admitted that her ears hurt, but is being a champ & enjoying playing her DS & watching movies all day every day of this week. She's also enjoying not having to do her chores. However, she did tell us she wasn't too sick to give the dogs food & water.

And little Missy here did good with her at home breathing treatment. She said she likes it better. She's even asked to go ahead & do one...seeing as how her cough woke her up from nap & she keeps coughing, but we had 2 hours before we could do another one when she asked.

So, PLEASE tell me how your Friday & your weekend is going....I can live through your fun while we are staying cooped up in the house.

And by the way...I've decided to do a giveaway! As soon as I get to 25 stalkers followers, I'll do it. Not sure yet what it will be, but I'm thinking on it. Now to be a follower, you can't just read my blogs, you've got to follow my page over on the GFC (Google Friend Connect). BTW, it's free! And since I know my 14 followers aren't viewing my post 21-38 times, some of you folks should join! Blogging is FUN!!!!

Personal Unglued Moment

It happened....it hasn't happened in a very long time, but it just happened!

I almost didn't blog about it, but I've just recently started following a bunch of different bloggers. I remember as I've read their stuff, I'm so thankful she is keeping it real & letting us know we're not alone in this journey I refer to sometimes as The Mommahood. So here I am, raw & real, telling you: you are not alone.

I had one of those head spinning Momma Moments.

I just came unglued at the girls....I literally went postal on them. I screamed at both of them. I haven't one this since I before I read the book Unglued by Lysa TerKeurst.

Awesome book if you haven't read it! I highly suggestion/recommend it!
After I scream & sent them both out of the room, I had a little Momma Meltdown (yes there were a few tears shed): Momma just needed 2 seconds alone  cause I have been dealing with 2 kids who have also not felt well all day --cause they aren't exactly angels when they don't feel well--  in the kitchen to fix the dinner I knew they weren't going to eat cause this flu has zapped their appetite.

I remembered that in the book, Lysa gave me an invitation to a beautiful thing: Imperfect Progress. Impefect Progress = imperfect changes that are slow steps of progress wrapped in grace.

So I took a deep breath, prayed, & reminded myself that we are all 3 sick, have cabin fever, & they just want to be close to their Momma.

Then I remembered that my job is obedience to God, so I did what is so hard to do with adults, much less my own children, I confessed to them I had been wrong & (even though they hadn't actually done wrong, I felt they had so I) forgave them as commanded in the Bible:
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed" (James 5:16a).
"'This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.' Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father" (Genesis 50: 17a).
"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you" (Colossians 3:13).

And then, as hard as it was {I've had fever since Monday after all}, I shifted my attitude to gratitude. The Bible says "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18). I realized they just wanted to be close to me & help me with what I was doing. How fortunate I am to have this cause not every parent has their child around to experience this for one reason or another.

Afterall, "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). I want to be this an example not only to the world, but especially to my girls.

I must:

I'm not supposed to have this Mommahood down perfect, I'm just supposed to be working on making progress. I'm such a work in progress! And I'm BEYOND THANKFUL that God is still working on me!!!!

And as I'm finishing this, I'm trying my hardest to not come unglued again cause the dog is asking to go out for the umpteenth time in 45 minutes & Jamie is having trouble eating chocolate pudding & is making a crazy mess.

So I'm going to:

Ain't Nobody Got Time

Yea, in case you haven't heard, we have the flu in this house.

My friend Dawn sent me that picture & it cracked me up, cause really ain't nobody got time for the flu!

But since the girls & I do have it, here's what we've been doing. I mean, I know I just blogged about it yesterday; but in the Blogger world, you blog about what's going on in your life. {Might want to make sure you read all the way to then end...there are some cute pictures of my girls PLUS I give ya some links to some giveaways}

But here's what we've done:

We've gotten some tons rest

And kept up with our meds & drank tons of fluids.

I've even been productive & took my email inboxes from almost 300 unread emails to this:
0 unread emails. That's a HUGE accomplishment y'all! Not that I'm so popular that I get tons of emails from folks, but I do get inspirational & encouraging emails, some junk, & some informational stuff. I just haven't actually looked at it in a while. So I took care of that.

We've also done what we could to make sure the dogs felt loved as they've been feeling a little left out in the cuddle department:

But mostly we've rested:

And every once in a while, the girls get a CRAZY burst of energy & act a little goofy:

Jamie ran around the house like this for about 10 minutes just a giggling last night. It was a wonderful sound!

This morning Kayla woke up giggling too, so that was great. We all woke up feeling a little better, not 100%, & only had low-grade fevers. Kayla is complaining a little about her throat

And Jamie is complaining about her left ear.

So if we keep fevers today & still have them in the morning, we'll be going back to see their nurse practitioner to see if we have any spin-off illnesses from the flu as we are supposed to return if we go more than 5 days with fever while taking Tamiflu. Kayla is on day 6 & Jamie day 5.

Again, I am thankful for these little burst of energy they get!

But they are short-lived & we end up back on the couch like this:

And did you know that toddlers follow you, everywhere?!?! Like really, everywhere {I can't even go to the bathroom alone}. Especially when they don't feel well.

I know one day I'll miss this, but for now, I've got a monkey on my back....literally: she's a monkey & that's my shoulder under that green shirt in front of her.

OH, I did get a little more productive:

I've recently blogged about how I was a Mary Kay Consultant. I loved my Mary Kay business, but I wasn't having enough time with my family so I gave it up. But I still have products on my shelf that I'm selling at half-price. I got one person's stuff together that has been asking. I hope to get the rest of the stuff together for those folks who have already looked at the half-price list.

I still have items on that list so let me know if you want to see it.

Okay, so that's what we've been doing.

Oh yea, the links to the giveaways! So I recently started stalking following this cool chick {she always refers to herself as one of the cool kids} named Lora. She reached 300 stalkers followers so she did a great giveaway with swag from a bunch of swag from other bloggers. In order to be considered in winning all the swag, you had to start following all the folks. So my blog following list grew by leaps & bounds. I am digging it though cause these girls are great at keeping it real!

Well now that I'm feeling a little better, I am able to read more of their blogs & guess what?!?!?! Some of them are doing giveaways {I'm starting to think there is something to these giveaways...maybe I should do one when I reach a certain amount of stalkers followers}.

First up is this chick:
