WIN & WOW & Thursday's Blessings

Good Friday Morning Beautiful People!
This child loves to come up with her own poses!

I know, I know, it's already Friday & I'm just now getting to my Weigh-In (WIN) & Workout Wednesday (WOW) update....but wait, I didn't blog about it last week so now you've got two weeks worth of info coming your way!

Goals
I said it before & I’ll say it again (& you’ll keep seeing it): Someone once told me to keep my goals in front of me. And as bad as my memory is, it's REALLY hard for me to remember my goals if they're not in front of me.

Personal Goals:
1) Make healthier meal choices when eating out.
2) When indulging in something that's not a healthier choice, practice strict portion control!
3) Eat at least 2 fruits & 2 veggies daily.
4) Drink 72-96 oz of water daily.
 5) Workout 5 days a week.
6) Log EVERYTHING into My Fitness Pal every day.
7) Be comfortable enough with my body to wear a 2-piece for Summer 2014, even if I don't actually buy one.
8) Walk different 5Ks throughout the year.
**I have done (Cotton Pickin' 5K) & I'm registered for another**

9) Walk the St. Jude Half Marathon on December 7, 2013. [REGISTERED! This IS happening!]
10) Stop weighing/measuring everyday....don't be number-driven.
11) Be less self-conscious & more confident with myself. [I think I will always be working on this]

The Workout
Here they are for the last 2 weeks since my last WIN & WOW update:

I've started a new challenge....it's an app on my phone:

It has me do a few more sit-ups each time I do it (designed to be done 3 days a week) in order to work myself up to doing 200 in one workout session. I also like it cause it praises me when I'm finished & allows me to post for my accountability people (you know, those peeps who check on me with my workouts & such):

Wednesday Goal = Long Walk or Walk/Run
October 2 = 2 miles walked in 46 minutes at 4 mph and 4.99 miles in 55 minutes at 6 mph (averaged a 10 minute mile)

Thursday Goal = Run/Walk
October 3 = Sit-up challenge

 Friday Goal = Workout
October 4 = nothing....I was going to tell you why & then realized they were unnecessary excuses.

 Saturday Goal = Workout
October 5 = nothing

 Sunday Goal = Workout
October 6 = Sit-up challenge

Monday Goal = Cross-Training Day
October 7 = 2 miles in 20 minutes...........

......and then Fitness Boot Camp with COXtrong Boot Camp at Do Work

And then this happened:

I have to take 2 whole weeks off from running, heavy walking, & strenuous exercises. Oh how much this disappoints me!!!!!

Tuesday Goal = Walk/Run
October 8 = Sit-up challenge

Wednesday Goal = Long Walk or Walk/Run
October 9 = nothing

Thursday Goal = Run/Walk
October 10 = nothing

 Friday Goal = Workout
October 11 = nothing

 Saturday Goal = Workout
October 12 = nothing

 Sunday Goal = Workout
October 13 = nothing

Monday Goal = Cross-Training Day
October 14 = nothing

Tuesday Goal = Walk/Run
October 15 = Sit-up challenge & 10 minutes of easy walking

Obviously, it was an off week for me; but at least this last week has had a medical reason.....goal for next week: Be better with my workouts than this week! Even when I can't medically workout, I should at least do sit-ups or something easy!!!!

 The Weigh-In

I’ve been logging into My Fitness Pal for the last 430 days in a row as of Wednesday, October 16.
As you can see, I’ve lost a total of 37.8 lbs

I'm now at the maintain the weight but shape up stage.

Thursday Daily Blessings

I have been an optician & worked at the Somerville Eye Care Clinic for 2 years as of October 17, 2013....Happy Anniversary to Me! This is far from what I went to school to become when I grew up; but sometimes you just need to make a change & this was an easy option. It was a financial decision for our family & my sanity & happiness.

As a lot of you know, Wednesday was Boss's Day. Our schedule at work just did not allow us to take the boss to lunch, so we did it on Thursday instead. We headed to the Memphis area for lunch & ate at J. Alexander's. I had the Steak Maui & it was yummy! I even have 1/2 of it left for Friday's lunch!

After lunch, we went to Lifeway Christian Store. I got a Chronological Life Application Study Bible. I never read the Bible from cover-to-cover, but have always wanted to. When I've tried in the past, I've always gotten confused about when stuff was happening....hence I got one in chronological order in hopes to help me better understand. I opted for one that is life application to help me better understand applying the Word to my life today. And of course, I got a version (NLT) that I would understand cause I get tripped up by the fancy talk of the KJV. I also got The Girl's Still Got It by Liz Curtis Higgs. I am really enjoying the Ruth Bible study I have joined & this book is a historical fiction book diving deeper into Ruth's store. The author has books on the New York Times bestseller list & is full of wit.....one of her books is titled Really Bad Girls of the Bible....I think I'm going to add this one to my wish list as it just sounds fun to read!

We then got to make a trip to Starbuck's! If you've been following me long or know me, you know this is a treat for me cause the closest one to us is about 40 minutes away.

Do you remember in Fall Break 2013 & More Daily Blessings (posted yesterday) when I mentioned that Kayla got invited to Bring a Friend to Dance Night on Monday? Well, she fell in love with it! She was able to show us more that she had learned from one night of dance than she has shown us after 2 1/2 months of tumbling. So after much talk, prayer, & weighing all of the pros & cons, we've decided to switch the girls to dance & stop attending tumbling. The dance studio is about 15 minutes from the house. When I take the girls to tumbling, we spend about 2 house in travel time alone. It's just a smarter move at the ages of 6 & 3. But Kayla was upset about not getting to see her tumbling friends any more; so we did one more night of tumbling:

This new schedule will change up my workout daily goals.

The girls have been invited to 2 birthday parties this weekend (Friday night & Saturday afternoon), so while they were tumbling birthday presents were purchased to celebrate our friends.

Tell me about your weigh-ins, workouts, &/or what ya did on Thursday!

Fall Break 2013 & More Daily Blessings

Well Good Thursday Afternoon to You! Here's your Thursday Daily Blessings picture:
Kayla ha her class pictures today so we tried to go a little stylish. After all the positive comments we've gotten on the outfit, I may put her in the same thing & actually curl her hair for individual pics...what do you think???

WOW, we left for Fall Break one week ago today & I am just now posting about it...what the hey!?!?!?!

Anywho!

After everyone got out of school & off work last Thursday, we headed to Nonnie & Pappaw's (aka: my parents) house on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs (AR).

We had Thursday evening through Monday morning there.

We were able to do some relaxing......

I just love the view from their back patio:

Ya know, some days are just better with your tiara & your tutu!

We got to enjoy some time with our friends watching the Hogs, tossing the football.....

....coloring.....

....& just hanging out.

I don't know...I was just fascinated with this bubble!

We enjoy feeding the ducks that hang out in the cove.

And of course, playing outside is always a blast!

It was a great visit!

Monday we loaded up & headed back:

We stopped by Hooters for lunch. We tried sitting out on the patio cause the weather was awesome for it.....

....; but you get the best service when sitting inside, so we moved.

Then it was off to the Halloween store for costumes.

Now, you would think from looking at this picture that Jamie is suspicious. But it's actually Kayla who is on the verge of tears cause she does not like the scary/spooky stuff. Jamie is actually just too focused on the costumes she saw behind me to look at the camera OR smile for the picture.

One of Kayla's newest friends (HG) attends dance in a town about 12 minutes from our house. Monday night was Bring a Friend to Dance Night & HG invited Kayla.

Both girls were very excited!!!!!

Since Jamie wasn't able to attend, I took her for an ice cream treat at "The Right Place".

The dance studio does offer classes for Jamie's age, but she wasn't invited. She was totally okay with that it provided her & I a little special time together.

Tuesday brought a Happy Happy Happy girl ready to return to school:

And I got to make a trip to Backermann's Bakery for some lunch meat & goodies.....that place smells SOOOOOO very yummy!!!! They bake their own breads & desserts!

But I should really learn to eat BEFORE I do my shopping there. I had pretty good self-control this time though.

Tuesday evening Gree, Poppie, Tammy, & James came over for a fresh fish dinner. It was yummy & we all enjoyed our visit!!!!!

Wednesday was Wear Brown Day for Kayla....& Jamie always wants to wear a dress!

After school & work, we all had dinner together before the girls & I headed to our church activities. They absolutely love their time in Mission Friends & Church Preschool Choir. I am not able to do any walking/running yet due to the toenail removal (more on this when I blog about WIN & WOW), so I went to the Ruth Women's Bible Study. The study is by Kelly Minter & it is awesome!!!! I find myself wanting to do the work for it outside of the class time and WANTING to read my Bible more!!!!!

So what have you been up to? What do you honestly think about the outfit repeat for individual pictures mentioned above? Leave your comments & let me know!

Weekend Shenanigans Through Tuesday Blessings

Good Wednesday Morning Afternoon Folks!!!! It's Pink Day for Kayla's class so the girls are all decked out this morning:

So I got to blog every day last week; but this week hasn't provided the same timing. So hang on folks; it's a long ride this morning!

Weekend Shenanigans
Yes, I missed the link up; but I'm telling you what happened anyway! Do you remember from Thursday Blessings & Muffins with Mom that I got to go to Muffins with Mom at Kayla's school?

It was such a wonderful time with my big girl!

While I was enjoying special time with Kayla, Jamie was getting time with special people in our life too.....Nonnie & Pappaw!

That was the Thursday Blessing I told you I would tell you about later. They came over for the weekend!!!!

Friday afternoon, we got to go to Kayla's school to watch the Pep Rally.

Pappaw, Jamie & Nonnie

Me & Jamie

Kayla was excited to spot us in the crowd!

Viking Buddies were announced in front of the whole school. Kayla LOVES having Ms. Julia as her Viking Buddy!

All of the Little Viking Cheerleaders who attended Cheerleader Day Camp got to do some cheers & dancing at the Pep Rally:

Pre-K & Kindergarten won the Spirit Stick & they were so excited!!!!!

Kayla's class (those who hadn't left already) with the Spirit Stick.

After some down time at the house, it was time for everyone to get ready to go cheer on our Viking Football Team.

These 2 were excited that we sat right in front of the cheerleaders!!!! I don't think they took their eyes off of them during the game:

Nonnie, Jamie, Gree, Kayla, Daddy (Hubs), & Pappaw
Poppie wasn't there cause he was manning the meat at the BBQ Competition in Corinth, MS that our BBQ Team was competing in....more on that in a bit.

At halftime, the Little Viking Cheerleaders who attended Cheerleader Day Camp got to do a few cheers & a dance:

Not only is Ms. Julia Kayla's Viking Buddy, she is a senior this year & on the Color Guard. She also babysits for us & both girls absolutely LOVE her!

Kayla's newest Best Friend is HG. They're in the same class & I hear about playing with her often. Well, HG also has a little sister Jamie's age.....so it looks like we can have some fun play dates & Jamie won't feel left out!!!!

These girls had so much fun at the game!!!!!

While we were chilling at the house on Friday night, we had a little visitor: a flying squirrel!

Saturday, Jamie woke up really congested, so Nonnie, Pappaw, the girls, & I just chilled at the house & watched movies.

Now, more about the BBQ Competition in Corinth, MS!!!! So as you know, Poppie was manning the meat while we were all at the football game on Friday night. After the halftime performance, the Hubs & Gree headed back down to Corinth. One of our other team members was able to join them & the competition was very successful for our team!!!!

Ghost River Smoke-A-Holics Results
6th place in Chicken
2nd in Ribs
1st in Pork
1st in Brisket
and....
GRAND CHAMPIONS!!!!!

That means that we are now able to compete in the Invitation Only Kansas City American Royal Grand Championship in 2014!!!! You can only compete in the American Royal if you have won a Grand at a sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) competition. It was also very exciting for us because this is the 3rd time we have competed in this competition and our 3rd time to win Grand Champion!!!!!

Sunday, Jamie woke up still really congested & her cough was getting worse. So we stayed home from church.

Which allowed for some movie time & play/dress-up time as they felt up to it.

Sunday did bring an exciting event for Kayla:
The Viking Buddy Picnic!!!!

Kayla & I got to join Ms. Julia for a picnic at school. We ate & they exchanged gifts. Kayla loved her new bear!!!!!

Then they played games (Big Buddies vs. Little Buddies):

Sunday evening I got a sweet note from my friend over at Kaitlyn's Crazy Life. I got a mention on her blog!!!! It was too sweet.

Monday Blessings

Kayla was excited about PE Day....& Jamie was not feeling better at all! Her symptoms were all getting worse, so she did not go to school......

.....instead, I took her to the doctor's office. And the verdict: she has croup & allergy problems (meds for both). BUT I'm thankful there's no fever (which means we're not contagious), no strep (tested to make sure it was cleared up from a couple of weeks ago), & no ear infections (which she usually gets when she's this congested.

I got to go to my Fitness Boot Camp on Monday!!!!!

Tuesday Blessings

Jamie didn't have school so she slept in; but here's Kayla's Good Morning picture:

And this is how I felt on Tuesday morning:

Tuesday afternoon, I was able to laugh at myself........

.....and here's the back story: Soooooo.....I have had a toenail that has been partially (not even a fourth of it) separating from my toe for a few years. I damaged the nail bed in 1999 by dropping a frozen rack of ribs on it. Over the last few months, it's been separating a little more & more. When I was in the shower Monday night, my washcloth caught it & separated half of the whole nail from my toe, down to the cuticle (which I'm thankful it didn't hurt!!!). I went to my PCP that afternoon to get it looked at & taken care of cause the LAST thing I needed/wanted was for it to rip all the way off getting snagged on something cause it was still connected to the toe for almost half of the nail. I wanted to go to a podiatrist, but I couldn't be seen for 2 weeks & I didn't want to snag it before then. They decided it needed to be removed & right AFTER it was removed & they were talking about seeing new nail growth already. I told them I felt light-headed & like I was about to pass out. They QUICKLY put ice on me & kept checking my blood pressure....which was down around 70/50. After 30-45 minutes of ice & relaxing, I was back to myself & laughing about it with a bandaged toe. Apparently I thought they needed a little excitement in their life.

So how has your life been since Friday morning?????
