Weekend Wrap-Up

Good Monday Morning to you!!!

How was your weekend?????

Here's how mine went down......

Here is your Good Morning picture from Friday morning:

But before that little cutie got up, I hit the gym for this:

.....which was 4.60 miles for me on this:

Then I got in 108 sit-ups with a 10 lb. plate:

Then I did my quiet time with God, got ready for the day, & woke up my sweet big girl. We went for our Friday Morning Mother Daughter Breakfast. Kayla picked Teague Store (aka: The Right Place):

We read about David the Shepherd King & how God can take even the biggest mess & make it work in His plan. We also read how we're going to have troubles every day; but God's peace can find a way to turn them into blessings, making us stronger in our faith.

Friday morning was steady at work & at lunch Cathy & I were able to go to the gym & I cycled.....

....7.8 miles in 40 minutes.

Friday afternoon I could have done what I usually do every Friday afternoon: play around & not get much work done. But I decided to be productive....& since it's Monday morning, I can tell you I am THANKFUL I did cause it's nice having a chill morning!!!!

Friday night we had homemade sloppy joes & they were YUMMY! We were also able to pull out one of the Christmas cards to explain our connection to them & pray for the family this year.

The family was the Pucketts......Daddy meet Lacy (the mom) during Optometry school & they became great friends.

Saturday morning I was able to get up & get to the gym before the girls got up.

I did 121 sit-ups with the 10 lb. plate......

.....& worked with the weights.

The rest of Saturday was filled with housework (cause I was too exhausted to get much done last week), working on stuff for school (100th day of school project & practicing skills), & relaxing. Hubs got to spend some time duck hunting. I was supposed to get to go to a Girls Night.....but was unable to due to some miscommunication. No biggie cause I enjoyed time at home & was well rested for our Sunday morning.

Sunday morning I got to take these cuties to spend some time with our Church family:

And I also got to sing my 1st service with the choir. I have never been made to feel so welcomed as I did with the choir. I've only been to 1 practice & sang with them once, but they've already made me feel like I'm one of them. It was AMAZING & good for my soul!!!! Songs just speak to me on so many more levels when I'm able to sing them.

After we grabbed a bite to eat, I wanted to just be lazy & not workout & just relax & read.......but then I saw this:

It was supposed to be a running day, but I just wasn't feeling it. So I did a little switching of days & did this:

Which ended up meaning I walked 2.58 miles in 40 minutes.

Technically I know my cross training isn't supposed to be walking; but it's what I felt like doing given I really didn't want to do anything at all.

I also did some Kettlebell work.

After the girls got up from nap, we got ready & headed back to Church for the evening activities. The girls have Team Kids for an hour while I have Discipleship Training. Then it's evening service time....with no activities for the girls. I have avoided this as I didn't want to be that parent with kids who were distracting during the service. But God has truly blessed me with really good girls!!!! I let them enjoy the service up until it was time for the sermon; then I broke out the coloring books & crayons. We also sat at the back of the Church. Other than Jamie moving around a lot, they were VERY GOOD! Of course they always seem louder & more distracting to me as a mother....but those around us assured me they were great!

It was a great weekend!!!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Monday to you!!!!

Here's your Good Morning Friday picture:
Kayla was SOOOO excited for a few reasons: to be dressed like a cowgirl (with her shirt, belt, & boots), getting to go to the library at school, & taking Clifford for Show and Tell.

If you recall from my blog posted on Friday, I saw every hour from the time I got up Thursday morning to workout until midnight. Well, it continued that way into Friday morning. See, hubs went duck hunting with a friend, but left Thursday night so he didn't have to get up crazy early to drive. And no matter how much he has gone hunting or been away for BBQ contest, I just do NOT sleep well if he's not in the house. So I didn't sleep a solid hour.....getting up Friday morning tired before I did a thing.

Given that my normal morning routine was out of whack with no sleep & hubs not being there, Kayla & I did our Friday Morning Mother Daughter Breakfast as a Muffins with Mom during our devotional time. I made blueberry muffins cause that's Kayla's favorite muffin flavor.

For our devotional, we read about David & Goliath & talked about how no matter how big we think our problems are, God is bigger....to not be afraid cause God is with us....that our battles/struggles are not our battles cause they're God's battles (as long as we give then to Him) & He always wins His battles. We also took time to read Jesus Calling for Kids.....which reminded us not to worry about anything, to always pray, & give thanks for everything (good & bad). I just love learning more from God with her!

Friday at work was easy since the boss man wasn't there. Cathy & I took a long lunch cause I NEEDED some new scrubs. All of mine could be described as falling off of me or swallowing me whole. I was REALLY excited about it & almost cried tears of joy cause I dropped not one, but two sizes in scrubs. Now I know those things are cut big, but still, it was exciting!!!!!

Getting new scrubs also meant lunch at Panera Bread. Well, we could have gotten lunch anywhere, but picked Panera cause it's right next door, yummy, & we rarely go there (like only when we're buying new scrubs).

That was YUMMY!!!!! It was the Pick 2: 1/2 Roastes Turkey & Avacado BLT with a cup of Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Cathy & I also split a Cinnamon Roll cause I has a free birthday pastry that would be expiring.

We have a Lake House (our old trailer on an acre of land) with my MIL & FIL (aka: Gree & Poppie) down at Sardis & we've got pine trees that are starting to look a little iffy as to if they are going to stand up to any high winds. So we've decided to cut them all down. So when Kayla got out of school, Gree took the girls on down. Poppie headed down once he got off. And after hubs got home from the duck hunt, had a nap, & I got off work, we headed down too. The girls always have a blast down there & it is LOTS of relaxing for the rest of us. We let the girls stay up late & given that I had not slept a solid hour since 4am Thursday morning, I started getting delirious & giggly.

But thankfully a good night full of sleep came & the girls didn't get up till about 7:30. After the rest of us got up, we headed down to the Lodge for breakfast.  These 2 love going down to Sardis & LOVE getting to go to the Lodge!!!!

Apparently 1 night of sleep was not enough for me cause I dozed & napped for about 3 hours on Saturday....I told you it was nice & relaxing down there.

Meanwhile, the girls planned & had their nap. Then Gree & Poppie got ready & headed to meet some of their friends from their school days for dinner. Hubs, the girls, & I headed to one of our FAV restaraunts down there: Como Steakhouse.

Kayla with her Daddy

Me with Jamie

The girls decided they wanted to do silly face pictures too:

And Kayla even got Daddy to do one with her:

Thankfully I was saved by the food....Jamie didn't ask me to do one with her.

Speaking of food, it was DELICIOUS as usual!!!!

When we got back to the Lake House, it was about time for the girls to go to bed. Once they were down, Hubs & I enjoyed a movie: Ocean's Twelve. I need to watch it again though case there's some stuff I missed. Once Gree & Poppie got back, we headed home. The girls were staying cause everyone is off work & out of school on Monday, but we open our office (it's one of our busiest days of the year). So they will be enjoying some of Monday at the Lake House till they have to come home to get ready for Dance.

Sunday morning, we got up & got to spend some good, quality time with our Church family! I love those people the more & more time I spend with them. Sure you're not going to agree with everyone 100% of the time; but spending time in God's presence with them focused on God is such a wonderful thing!

The rest of our Sunday included relaxing, NFL Championships & the fire place being on.....not cause it was really that cold or anything, but just because it is so relaxing.

I decided to head back to church for Discipleship Training & Evening Service. Those were great & I learned so much!!!!! And when I got home, this was waiting on me:

Yep, I'm spoiled!!!!

So how was your weekend????

Weekend Wrap-Up

Well Good Monday Morning Afternoon to YOU!

Here's how our weekend went down (with the exception of the details of my workouts cause you get that recap on the WIN & WOW Updates)....

Friday
 Good Morning World Picture:
It was Library Day & Show & Tell Day. Kayla was excited to be going to Library cause she hasn't had a new book since the end of November or beginning of December. She decided to take one of her kitties for Show & Tell.

One of my childhood friends does something with her daughter that I decided I should do with the girls (well, just Kayla until Jamie starts going to school on Fridays). Most every Friday school morning, my friend & her daughter go somewhere for breakfast & have a devotional. I've been watching them do this via Facebook for a while now & the Friday before Christmas break, God laid it on my heart that Kayla & I needed this special time. See, when I was pregnant with Jamie I went on bed rest for 7 SOLID weeks. Then Jamie was a little more demanding than Kayla as baby & is still clingy to me. This Friday morning time helps me to sit down & just focus on Kayla.

This past Friday, we went to Teague Store (also known as The Right Place when the girls are wanting ice cream). Kayla is allowed to pick anything she wants to eat & drink for breakfast & this week was a HUGE honey bun with icing & a Dr. Pepper. We read the story of Samuel anointing Daniel & learned that it doesn't matter what we look like on the outside; it only matters what we have inside our hearts.

I got to get my hair done finally & other than that it was your run-of-the-mill day for me (workout at least twice & get my job done as an optician).

Hubs killed a few deer the other weekend so we were able to have some yummy deer steak....I can't remember the last time we had deer steak.

Saturday
I got up a little later than I wanted to, but still got a little workout in. I had a hard time pushing through it, but did it anyway. When the girls got up, we headed to The Hut for breakfast.
Kayla LOVES her some eggs!!!!

And Jamie is a HUGE fan of pancakes!

The afternoon was just nice & relaxing so we could get ready for our evening.

The evening was DEFINITELY fun & exciting!!!!

From time-to-time, the Hubs takes the girls out on a date. Sometimes it's just one of them with him; & sometimes it's a Daddy Double Daughter Date when they BOTH get to go. They absolutely LOVE this special time with him! And sometimes I get to chauffeur!

This was one of the Daddy Double Daughter Dates that I got to chauffer.

They were ALL excited!!!! 1st up was Chuck E. Cheese. I ran to get donuts & check out Aldi's (since I've never been in one & it's in the parking lot next door to where they were).

Next stop was dinner at Red Robin.....

....& I got to join in the fun! Of course it was YUMMY!!!!!

The last stop was for dessert at Menchie's....& I got to tag along for that too!!!!! We were going to go see Frozen; but our wait at dinner ran us too late for that.

Sunday
Good Morning World Picture:
Oh how blessed I feel to get to take the girls to worship with our church family!

It was a nice & relaxing....well, we got laundry & some housework done during the afternoon/evening.

I felt SOOOO accomplished!!!!! I got my lunches & afternoon snacks prepped for the week. My morning snack is usually a smoothie I make that morning.  I ALSO just got the girls lunches figured out for the week AND dinner menu ALONG with shopping list to make my shopping trip during Kayla's dance Monday night go more smoothly. It may not seem like much, but it will save me time in the mornings so I don't turn into that head-spinning Momma I tend to turn into when I feel pressed for time in the mornings.

FYI: I have fallen in LOVE with Spaghetti Squash!!!! I have roasted it up & treat it just like spaghetti noodles, putting anything on it I would on pasta..... BUT 1 cup (without anything on it) is only 30 calories.

Hubs was excited to get to go duck hunting with his Dad & some buddies this weekend too....I would say they were pretty successful:

Party Animals Weekend

Good Monday Morning!!!!

Party Animals?

Really????

I am a Mom of a 6 & 3 year old......

We are not normally party animals. But this weekend, we had the honor of being invited to celebrate not 1, not 2, but THREE of our friends with birthday parties this weekend. We had a friend in each of our age groups.

We were also invited to a family reunion.....of a family we aren't members of. Those people think a lot of us. But given all that we had going on, we were unable to attend that one. It was still truly an honor to be invited.

Ummmmm.....warning: picture overload coming!

Celebrating Lily
The 1st party was on Friday night & it was for our friend Lily. She's in Jamie's age group. Her party was at Pump It Up (a place full of inflatables). Sorry for the blurry pictures....but these kids were having too much fun to stop for pictures!

Jamie with the birthday girl!

My girls with the birthday girl....again, too busy having fun to stop for pictures!

Jamie would get upset if she couldn't see Kayla or if Kayla ran off without her. She loves her big sister! It was cracking me up, but getting on my last nerve at the same time (due to the whininess); but this stage too shall pass.

Such a great group of kids that had A BLAST!!!!

Cake & Ice Cream time:

Time to open presents:

The Big Chair of Honor

Celebrating Nola
Saturday, we were invited to celebrate our friend Nola. She's in Kayla's age group. Her party was at her house. The kids got to run around & play outside, enjoy a nacho bar & popcorn bar, decorate/color aprons, paint canvases, & of course, enjoy ice cream & cake!

Enjoying nachos & popcorn....build-your-own style

Sometimes, you've just got to raise your bowl up to your mouth to get all the goods.

Running around, playing outside:

Time to decorate/color aprons:

Kayla & Jamie with some of their friends at the party, including the birthday girl (standing beside Kayla).

Time to paint:

Cake & Ice Cream Time:

Happy Birthday Nola!

Nola's Mom (Desiree) got REALLY creative with the cake! There were poka-dots in it!

Time to open presents:

Someone was a little worn out

Celebrating Jessica
Saturday night, we got to celebrate our friend Jessica. We got to welcome her into the 30-something club! There was dinner at Chili's & a bonfire.

Headed to dinner with the hubs

Everyone at dinner:

Happy Birthday Jess!

Bonfire Time:

The Rest of the Weekend
We were lazy! We did a little dress up, but mostly just lounged around watching TV staying in our jammies.

Gree & Poppie did come over for spaghetti & cornbread....which was yummy!!!!

Tell me, how was your weekend???
